Take Water: We went when the temperature was ~70 degrees at the visitors center, nice day for a hike right? When we got on the trail, it was a lot hotter with the sun reflecting off the rocks, bottom line, Hat, Water, and Sunscreen are things you need. Wear Good Shoes:,The trail is sandy and turns to rocky and flip flops would not cut it: #2. If you are looking for a nice hike that is not to hard, but checks a lot of blocks, specifically getting to hike thru a slot canyon, this is it. I will state that I was quite satisfied that I had chosen to hike this one, and I would highly recommend it to future travelers. This was the only trail I attempted during my visit here because of the heat, so I cannot compare it with other trails. Once you get past this first section, the rest of the trail is mainly over rocky areas, so you won't have to worry about the sand so much. For this reason, I would recommend close-toed boots with a relatively high ankle. If your shoes have any gaps or openings, you are sure to end up with lots of sand in them. If you hike in a clockwise direction, the first part of the trail is over a sandy path. Try to aim your visit for the cooler months, or at the very least go in the morning before things really warm up. The hike is not too strenuous, but the heat can make even the shortest hike seem daunting. I brought way more water than I thought I would need and ended up drinking every last drop. If you do wish to hike, you should be advised that the trail gets very warm in the summer. Even if you don't intend to hike, it is still worth the detour just to drive out to the trailhead and back. Best of all, the drive to reach the hike is the best in the park and takes you through incredible scenery. There is a small slot canyon to enjoy, and there are even some leftover movie props to be seen along the trail. There are tons of different colors in the rocks and the views are tremendous. The White Domes Trail has a lot to offer. The remainder of the trail will be full of picturesque landscapes with tons of areas to explore. After exiting the slot canyon you'll be immersed in ribbons of color flowing through the rock formations, it's a spectacular area. ![]() continuing on the trail will have only a mild incline and be much easier to traverse). It's short but extremely beautiful ~ we loved it. The slot canyon is at about the mid point of the trail. The decent is pretty steep but doesn't last long and then it levels out for a while. Bring your backpack with plenty of water. ![]() We were here in September with temps in the high 90's ~ super hot ~ especially with all that heat radiating back off the rocks. Be sure to wear the proper shoes as the sandy conditions give way to rocky terrain and all that sand under foot can prove to be a bit treacherous. Staying on the trail, though, you will find that you begin a fairly steep decent. they are like ramps easily taking you as high as you feel comfortable going. The way the rocks gently rise up from the earth. You can explore up the rock wall to the left. Once you reach the crest of the incline you'll see the beauty beyond. This proves to be more tiresome than one would expect (i.e. The trail starts out with very sandy footing with a mild incline. We suggest taking it in first as all others will pale in comparison. This trail is one of the most beautiful in the VOF Park.
